April is a fantastic time to engage your clients, promote seasonal wellness, and have fun on social media.
Here are some exciting April post ideas to help you stay relevant and connect with your audience while introducing them to your practice and how you and your team conduct veterinary medicine and patient care.
1. April Fools' Fun: Mysterious New Species Discovered at Our Clinic!
Who doesn’t love a good prank? Have fun with your clients by introducing a "newly discovered" exotic pet at your clinic. You can share a funny image or video, like a photoshopped animal with bunny ears and a horse tail (hello, Fluffasaurus Rex or Purrapotamus!).
Marketing Tip: Announce the discovery with a catchy caption and encourage followers to come up with their own names for the "creature." You could even offer a prize for the funniest suggestion!
2. Allergy Season Survival Kit Giveaway
As the weather warms up, allergy season is here! Offer a "Pet Allergy Survival Kit" filled with allergy-friendly treats and wipes, along with an educational guide on managing pet allergies. You could also partner with an allergy treatment brand for exclusive discounts to offer your clients.
Engagement Tip: Encourage clients to share their own allergy-fighting tips or experiences with a post like, “Does your pet get itchy paws in spring? Let us know how you handle allergies!”
3. Easter Egg Hunt – A Treat-Filled Clinic Adventure!
Host an Easter Egg Hunt for pets and families at your clinic. Hide plastic or pet-safe eggs filled with small treats or coupons for discounts.
Marketing Tip: Announce the event on social media and encourage participants to share pictures of their pets hunting for eggs. Use a hashtag like #EasterAt[YourClinicName] to boost engagement.
4. Love or Hate the Rain?
"Does your pet love puddles or prefer staying inside when it rains?" Ask your followers to share their rainy-day pet pics and tell you how their pets react to the rain. It’s a great way to encourage engagement and fun conversations!

5. When to See a Vet for Allergies
Help pet owners identify whether their pet’s seasonal symptoms are allergies or something more serious.
Share a checklist of common allergy symptoms, such as itching and watery eyes, and invite followers to schedule an appointment for a check-up if needed.
Marketing Tip: Follow up this post with a video demonstrating how your hospital serves and treats a patient with allergies. Give pet owners an idea of what it would be like for you to care for their pet and build trust with them before they come in.

6. Preventative Meds Reminder
It’s the perfect time for a friendly reminder to keep up with heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. If you offer ways to make it easy for pet owners to stay consistent with their pet's preventatives (like autoship, auto reminders, home delivery, etc.), be sure to mention it here and remove any excuse or hurdle to making it happen.
Video Idea: Make a quick video demonstrating how to administer your recommended preventive and explaining how consistency will benefit the pet for long-term care.

7. Spring Pet Activity Bingo
Introduce a fun Spring Pet Activity Bingo card with activities like walking in the sunshine, playing outside, or teaching a new trick. Encourage followers to complete squares and share their photos to enter a prize contest.
In Vet Social Hub, we have Canva templates for dogs & cats, but also exotics and mixed animals.
Marketing Tip: Offer a prize for completed rows or full cards—whether it’s a discount, branded merch, or a shoutout on your page. Enhance the experience by by re-sharing their photos in your stories so others on social media can see.
8. Easter Basket: Pet-Friendly Goodies
Easter is the perfect time to share pet-safe Easter goodies or create a fun pet-friendly basket idea. Share a photo of a basket filled with treats, toys, and other pet-safe items to spark creativity among your followers.
Marketing Tip: Highlight how pet owners can spoil their pets safely during the holiday, and consider offering an Easter basket giveaway as a prize!
9. Highlight Your Receptionists for Veterinary Receptionist Week (Last Full Week of April)
Here are a few ideas to help you celebrate your CSRs on social media:
Thank You Video: A heartfelt video from your team thanking the receptionists for their dedication is a fantastic way to show appreciation. Have each team member share on camera one thing they love or appreciate about your Receptionists and splice them together into one video.
Favorite Way to Communicate: Encourage engagement by asking your audience how they prefer to reach out—phone, email, or social media. This will also provide you with valuable feedback on how to enhance your communication with clients, helping to ease your CSR’s workload and workflow. If you are doing a graphic for this one, I encourage you to feature a picture of one of your own CSRs to make it more personal and recognizable to clients who see the post on social media.
Years of Service Spotlight: Highlight the longest-serving receptionist and share what makes them so special. You could also include your entire CSR team and list how long they have been working at your clinic, but be sure to make a big deal out of the years of service your longest-serving receptionist has, as it’s a significant milestone.
10. World Veterinary Day (Last Saturday of April)
Use this holiday season to demonstrate how your team contributes to the community and highlight the impact of veterinary medicine on the community as a whole while raising awareness of our industry's importance. This could include photos of your team fundraising for a local charity, your hospital collaborating with a local business to enhance a local walking trail, or hosting a free vaccine or wellness clinic at your hospital.
